Our basic obedience training includes essential skills to set your puppy up for long-term success:

• Potty Training: Teaching your puppy where and when to go, helping establish consistent habits early on.
• Leash and Harness Training: Introducing proper leash manners and ensuring your puppy is comfortable walking on a harness.
• Crate Conditioning: We follow the “2:1 crate rule,” which recommends that for every two hours a puppy spends in their crate, they should get one hour of supervised time outside. This helps support healthy potty training routines and social development.
• Foundational Commands: Puppies learn important basic commands including “sit,” “down,” “come,” “stay,” and “leave it.” These commands promote safety, communication, and a strong bond between you and your dog.

We’re so excited to help you find the perfect puppy! Here’s how the process works with For King & Country Puppies:

• Decide if the breed is right for you — Our focus is on Cavaliers, known for their loving, gentle temperament and adaptability. Make sure this breed fits your family and lifestyle.
• Determine what questions you have and give us a call — We’re happy to answer anything and guide you through the process!
• Schedule a virtual visit — Start with a virtual visit and or video to make sure you’ve got a good idea of your dream dog! Please note: virtual visits require a $300 deposit to reserve your puppy.
• Fill out our Puppy Contract — Once you’re ready, complete the contract here.
• Pick up your puppy — We’ll help you plan your pick-up and ensure your new family member’s transition is smooth and happy.

Cavalier King Charles Spaniels are typically considered fully grown in physical size and height by around 12-18 months of age.

We focus on five foundational commands that build the groundwork for your puppy’s obedience and safety. Each command is introduced with positive reinforcement to create a strong, lasting bond between you and your dog:

• Sit: One of the easiest commands to teach, "Sit" helps establish focus and is useful in everyday scenarios—such as before feeding, during grooming, or when greeting new people.
• Down: This command encourages your puppy to relax and stay calm. It’s particularly helpful in managing overexcitement or when you need your dog to lie down briefly.
• Come: A vital safety command, especially in off-leash or emergency situations. We begin teaching this in a distraction-free environment and slowly increase complexity to ensure reliable recall.
• Stay: "Stay" is key for building impulse control and teaching patience. It allows your puppy to remain in place until released, helping in situations like crossing streets or when guests arrive.
• Leave It: This command helps prevent your puppy from picking up unsafe or unwanted objects and discourages behaviors like resource guarding.
